The “expert” mind is one very strong and sneaky enemy.
It usually goes after, and often brings down, those individuals and organizations who have already enjoyed some previous success from their previous efforts, such as Fortune 500 companies, famous actors and actresses, celebrated chefs and authors, and the like.
With just a little practice, though — and some striving to be humble thrown in — you can learn to spot it and stop it from destroying your dreams and success.
First of all, whether it is inside your organization or inside your head, WATCH OUT for this kind of thinking:
> “I am better at this than almost anyone.”
> “What the heck do they know? We are the pros!”
> “I already know that. And that. And that.”
> “I’ve been doing this for 10 (20, 50, etc.) years… I’m not worried about them.”
> “I am an expert at this.”
This kind of thinking is deadly. This kind of thinking thwarts creativity and stops innovation and productivity in their tracks.
According to the Mayo Clinic, an olive oil cleanse is an alternative medicine therapy used to rid the body of gallstones and detoxify the liver. While there is no standard recipe for an olive oil and lemon juice cleanse, most practitioners only consume 1 or 2 tablespoons of olive oil with a fruit juice, like lemon juice, for two or three days.
” Thank you Doctor Mandel, yes I’ve been using this formula for about a week now, and it’s been very helpful for my stomach and I’m more regular than before. 10 English Words You’re (probably) Mispronouncing! | Difficult Pronunciation | Common Mistakes
English words with difficult pronunciation
In this English pronunciation lesson, I’m going to show you how to pronounce some difficult words. These words are often pronounced incorrectly and are common mistakes that many English students make.
This is because the combination of sounds is difficult, or because there are silent letters and syllables.
I’ve chosen these words because they are common words and they are words that are often pronounced incorrectly by English learners.
These words are:
– vegetable
– comfortable
– almond and salmon
– et cetera (etc.)
– clothes
– jewellery
– architecture
– enthusiastic
– word, world & work
– photograph
Please note that the pronunciation of some of these words differs between English accents. I speak with an Australian English accent 🙂
Let’s fix these pronunciation mistakes together so that you can speak English more clearly and confidently!
English words with difficult pronunciation
Silent letters are letters that you can’t hear when you say the word, but that are there when you write the word.
Silent letters can distinguish between homophones, e.g. in/inn; be/bee; lent/leant. This is an aid to readers already familiar with both words.
Silent letters may give an insight into the meaning or origin of a word, e.g. vineyard suggests vines more than the phonetic ‘vinyard’ would.
Silent letters help to show long vowels e.g. rid/ride
Silent letters help to show ‘hard’ consonants e.g. guest/gest
They can help to connect different forms of the same word e.g. resign/resignation
English words with difficult pronunciation
how to spell: silent letters and why they aren’t there to mess with your brain – honest. Silent letters are the letters in words that are not pronounced but make a huge difference to the meaning and sometimes the pronunciation of the whole word.
The bad news is that more than 60% of English words have silent letters in them which can cause all sorts of problems spelling the word or looking for the word in a dictionary. Silent letters aren’t there to mess with your brain – honest.
They’re there for various reasons and so identifying and understanding them will definitely help your spelling, writing and confidence.
Let’s go over these reasons: First of all, they help the reader to distinguish between homophones (homophones have the Same sound but different meaning and different spelling and there are loads of these nightmare words in English)
A silent letter can help us work out the meaning of the word and it also can change the pronunciation even though it’s silent – sin/sign, rat/rate
Magic ‘e’ – if you add ‘e’ at the end of short vowel sound words it elongates the sound – rid/ride, cop/cope, hat/hate, tap/tape, at/ate, mat/mate, (check out my magic ‘e’ video ).
Sometimes people might pronounce certain letters or they might not depending on their accent, for example the t in ‘often’ can be pronounced or not.
H is silent in a lot of accents. For me h is a difficult letter to pronounce because I grew up dropping the hand my muscle memory doesn’t like it at all! But the H is silent in some words from French – hour, honest, honour, heir, herb (in American)
Understanding the history of English spelling is one of the most important ways to understand, remember and learn spelling.
Silent letters in words like: knock, plumber, island, gnat, daughter, night, doubt, receipt show the history and origins of the word.
Plumber is a Roman/Latin word from the Roman for lead pipe – plum bum. That difficult -gh- letter pattern is from the Anglo- Saxons – Daughter, night, dough, bright… the -gh- used to be pronounced like the Scottish loch, a hard sound – until the French invaded and messed around with our spelling.
Knife, knock, know, gnat, gnaw are all Viking words which used to be pronounced but not now but we leave the letters in there to see the origin and history of the word (in Sweden they still say the silent letter in knife kneefe)
Most of these silent letters were pronounced for centuries then they became silent but the spelling was already fixed with these spellings.
Also our spelling system was phonetic until the French, and the 16th Century academics messed around with our spelling.
The Reasons Why English Spelling is so Weird and Wonderful. It’s packed with information and will help you get your head round English spelling – go to my website www.howtospell.co.uk.
Now let’s continue with the lesson
The good news is there are some rules about what letters are silent before or after certain letters
( but like all English spelling rules there are exceptions to the rule).
A few silent letter rules but like all English spelling rules there are always exceptions. ‘k’ is often silent before ‘n’ – knee, know, knuckle, knock…
‘w’ is often silent before ‘r’ – write, wrist, wrong, wrap…
‘g’ is often silent before ‘n’ – gnat, gnaw, gnash, gnarl…
‘p’ is often silent before ‘s’ – psychic, psalm, psychology, psychiatry…
‘l’ is often silent before ‘k’ – folk, walk, talk, yolk…
‘b’ is often silent after ‘m’ – plumber, numb, dumb, bomb, comb, climb, thumb…
‘n’ is often silent after ‘m’ – autumn, column, solemn, hymn…
‘t’ is often silent after ‘s’ – listen, fasten, glisten, castle…

how to grow lemon tree from seed
Directions
Moisten the potting soil so that it is damp, but not soaked, all the way through.
Fill the smaller pot with soil, all the way up to an inch below the rim.
Cut open your lemon and remove a seed. Remove all of the pulp from its surface. A good way to do this is to simply suck on it until it is clean.
Do not delay to plant. The seed must still be moist when it is buried into the soil in the smaller pot. Plant the seed about half an inch deep in the middle of the pot.
Spray the soil that is directly above the seed gently with water from a spray bottle.
Cover the pot with clear plastic wrap, seal the edges with a good rubber band, and poke small holes in the top with a pencil.
Place the pot in a warm, sunny location.
Spray on more water occasionally, not allowing the soil to dry out. Do not cause water to puddle though. Just keep the soil somewhat moist.
After about two weeks, when the sproutling emerges, take the plastic covering off. If you need additional light for your lemon plant, you can use a grow light to supplement the sun’s light.
Take care of the young plant by keeping the soil damp, by making sure it gets at least eight full hours of light per day, and by giving it moderate doses of organic fertiliser like compost.
Watch over your plant to ensure it is not attacked by bugs or diseases. Prune off brown, dead leaves when necessary.
When the plant outgrows its small pot, put it in the larger pot. You will go through much the same procedure when you re-plant it as when you first planted. Younger plants need more water than older plants, but they all do need adequate water. Don’t starve your poor plant after all that work of growing it!

You have been drinking water the wrong way all your life.
Yes. Water is life. Water is panacea.
But if it is drunk the wrong way, it becomes the reason for most shocking health problems.
Most people are unaware that they are unintentionally drinking water the wrong way. In this video I discuss about 5 common mistakes that 96% people do while drinking water.
The correct way to drink water is to sit down with a glass of water, and drink it sip by sip. One should consume at least 2-3 litres of water in a day. Drinking room temperature water over very cold water should be preferred.
When is the best time to drink water?
*Whenever you are thirsty. “Ayurveda hasn’t mentioned drinking water first thing in the morning. But since you haven’t eaten anything for 7-8 hours, it’s a good idea to drink lukewarm water in the morning, but only if you feel thirsty,” mentioned Bhavsar.

01:11 – #5 Reason that you are drinking water the wrong way. This is probably the most common and the most damaging thing almost everybody does. It becomes the reason for most grievous health issues later.
02:09 – #4 Reason that you are drinking water the wrong way. This is the side of fast modern life. People hardly spend time drinking water. They just gulp it.
03:08 – #3 Reason that you are drinking water the wrong way. Many people do this mistake after a strenuous workout session or after coming back from office. The harmful effects are many.
04:02 – #2 Reason that you are drinking water the wrong way. This is due to the result of negative marketing.
04:46 – #1 Reason that you are drinking water the wrong way. This is another side effect of fast lives. Or I should say that most people are unaware of this aspect.
While sitting. “Avoid drinking water while standing as it can have an adverse effect on your kidneys, and can even lead to arthritis. Sitting while drinking water allows your body to better filter the nutrients and direct the water to areas that need nourishing, rather than going directly into your stomach with a force, as it does when standing. Also, we typically drink water a lot faster while standing, which brings your nerves into a state of tension,” she explained.
how to drink water right way
What is the best way to drink water?
Instead of gulping a glass of water, enjoy it by drinking sip-by-sip.
What temperature water is best for you?
Either room temperature or tepid (lukewarm) water. “Please avoid icy cold water,” she mentioned.
How much water to drink?
“I was also under the impression that we need to drink plenty of water for better skin, immunity, and digestion. But that’s not correct. If you drink a lot of water, you might feel bloated. Also, it could dampen your digestive fire and increase kapha dosha. So, water is important and you need to drink enough but not more. Try to listen to your body. You’ll know when your body needs water and when it needs food. Just needs a little bit of practice and you’ll ace listening to your body and feeding it accordingly,” mentioned Bhavsar.

6. Rinse out several times until the smell of vinegar has vanished
7. Wipe down the outside of the kettle with a damp cloth
Using vinegar to remove limescale is non-toxic and detergent free.
To prevent limescale pour out any excess water from the kettle when you have finished using it. It is also possible to purchase a kettle descaler, which is a steel mesh ball that collects limescale when placed inside the kettle.
1
Mix 2 cups (470 mL) of vinegar and water and pour them into the kettle. If the volume of your kettle is too small for this mixture, fill it about halfway and place any leftover solution to the side. For best results, use white vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio.[1]
If yours is an electric kettle, make sure it’s unplugged before pouring in the water and vinegar.
It’s a good idea to check the owner’s manual for your particular kettle to make sure that it’s safe to add vinegar to the interior.
Tip: There are commercial descalers available, but make sure they are specifically for use on kettles and are not metal descalers. If you choose to use one, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
This build-up causes water to take longer to boil and can even lead your kettle to burn out in the long run.
Fortunately, if you begin to notice limescale build-up in your kettle, you can easily use vinegar or lemon juice to get rid of it.
2 – with vinegar
Turn the kettle on and bring the vinegar solution to a boil. Plug in the kettle if it’s electric or turn on the stove underneath a stovetop kettle to boil the solution. Let the solution boil for about a minute or so.[2]
Feel free to use a high heat setting to bring the solution to a boil as quickly as possible. It shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes to get it boiling.
Turn off the kettle once the solution is boiling and let it sit for an hour. The vinegar solution will do work its descaling magic simply by sitting in the kettle, so you don’t necessarily have to boil it for a set amount of time. If you don’t want to wait an entire hour, allow the solution to sit for at least 30 minutes before pouring it out.[3]
If yours is an electric kettle with an automatic switch-off feature, feel free to let it switch off on its own instead of watching to see when it boils.
How To Descale A Kettle
To descale a kettle, fill it with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water (one cup).
Leave the vinegar mixture in the kettle for 1 hour.
Then, dump it out and wipe down the inside of the kettle with a clean rag.
Once all the lime-scale is gone, rinse your kettle out with water 5 times, and voila.
4
Pour out the solution after an hour and rinse out the kettle. Be sure the kettle is cool to the touch before handling it. Thoroughly rinse the inside of the kettle under the sink faucet to get rid of any leftover vinegar solution. For best results, rinse out the kettle 2 or 3 times to get as much of the vinegar out of the inside as possible.[4]
If your kettle has a removable lid, take this lid off to make it easier to rinse out the interior. You can rinse the lid by itself to make sure it’s also clean.
5
Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe away any leftover limescale. The vinegar solution will probably not have removed all the limescale, but any leftover build-up should be easy to remove by hand. If a damp cloth isn’t cutting it, add a little bit of baking soda to a damp sponge and use that to clean out the inside of the kettle.[5]
For best results, use a microfiber cloth or a cleaning brush with an elongated handle. Make sure you get all the corners as well.
6
Run a plain water cycle to get rid of any lingering vinegar taste. Fill your kettle halfway with plain water and bring it to a boil. Pour this water out once it starts to boil. You may have to do this 2 or 3 times in order to completely deodorize the interior.[6]
Repeat this cycle until you can’t smell any vinegary odor in your kettle. You may also want to “test” your kettle by preparing a beverage in it and seeing if it tastes at all like vinegar.

The microwave is probably one of the most popular appliances in your home. It’s also the one that’s most in need of constant cleaning. Many companies market commercial cleaners and specialty chemicals as being the best at cleaning out your microwave – but not all of us are fans of using chemicals in our homes.
How to clean microwave
If you’d rather avoid the bad stuff, that’s totally fine! You can still clean your microwave, of course – and you probably have everything you need, right now in your kitchen, for the job. We promise, this naturally stuff is just as good as commercial cleaners – no tough scrubbing required! Here’s a list of ingredients you need for cleaning your microwave quickly and safely:
• Vinegar
• Baking Soda
• Lemons
• Lemon Essential Oil
• Water • Sponge
• Damp Cloth
• cup
• & a Microwave Safe Bowl
Stick with us, because in this video, we’ll be breaking down cleaning your microwave into two categories: with vinegar and with baking soda. If you have either of these two everyday kitchen items, you’re on your way to a clean microwave!
Let’s start with how to clean your microwave with vinegar. Just add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of vinegar in a glass cup or microwave safe bowl. You don’t need to mix these ingredients – just pop them straight in the microwave and put it on its highest heat setting. Set the timer for 5 minutes, and leave the vinegar to work its magic.
When your microwave dings, remove the cup or bowl. Be careful here, because it’ll be boiling hot – you’re going to want to use oven gloves or a tea towel to keep your hands protected, and be careful of the steam, too. Put the bowl to one side and wipe down interior of microwave with a damp cloth or sponge and you’re done. You should find that the vinegar has loosened any tough stains, and they should come right off.
As an added bonus, you can use the warm vinegar mixture to wipe down other dirty surfaces in your kitchen. Just make sure to let it cool to warm before you attempt to dip a cloth into the solution.
How to clean microwave
2. Lemon fresh method Another very similar method is to add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of vinegar in a microwave safe bowl, then cut one large lemon or two small lemons into slices. These lemons should add a little cleaning strength to your vinegar – plus, they’ll make your whole kitchen smell delicious. Place the cut lemon slices into your bowl of water and vinegar, then put it in your microwave and switch to a high heat. Set the timer for 5 to 6 minutes, then wait for it to ding. After this, you just follow the same steps as we’ve already mentioned: wipe down the interior of your microwave with a damp cloth or sponge and you’re done. Again, you can also save the warm lemon vinegar mixture to wipe down other dirty kitchen surfaces.
3. Lemon essential oil Speaking of lemons, if you happen to have some lemon essential oil lying around, you can also use that to effectively clean your microwave. For this method, just add 2 tablespoons of water to a microwavable-safe plate or bowl. Next, add 2 drops of lemon essential oil. Pop the plate or bowl in your microwave, make sure it’s on a high heat, and set the timer to 1 minute. When the minute is up, open the door to your microwave and place a clean sponge on the plate to absorb the remaining water. You can then use the sponge to wipe down the inside and outside of your microwave. The sponge shouldn’t be boiling, as you only left the essential oil to heat up for a single minute. But if it’s too hot to touch, give it a couple of minutes before picking it up.
4. Using baking soda From vinegar and lemon to one of the other most popular natural home cleaners of all time: baking soda. You can do much more with baking soda than simply adding it to cakes, you know! For this microwave cleaning hack, pour 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of water into a microwave-safe bowl. Give the water a stir to mix the baking soda in. Then place in your microwave and microwave on high for 6 minutes. In the same way that vinegar does, baking soda loosens the grime off the inside of your microwave. You should find that when you wipe the interior down with a damp cloth, the majority of grime comes away. For the most effective microwave clean, use this baking soda hack followed by the vinegar hack. You’ll have your microwave gleaming clean in no time.
5. Dish soap Dish soap is something that we all hopefully have to hand, making this one of the easiest microwave cleaning methods of all. Just fill a microwave safe bowl with warm water and add an ample amount of dishwashing soap. Put the bowl in the microwave for one minute, or until it begins to steam. Remove the bowl, being careful not to burn yourself, then dampen a sponge and wipe the inside of the microwave. The steam will loosen all of the dried-on debris.
What Materials Should Not Be Put in the Microwave?
There are certain materials that should never be microwaved because they’re a fire hazard, or they could explode or release toxic gasses. Here are some things that should not be put in the microwave:
Metal and containers with metal trim
Dishes with gold paint
Paper bags
Take-out containers
Sharp objects
Yogurt and butter containers
Eggs (in the shell)
Styrofoam
Grapes
Hotdogs
Uncovered sauces or dips
Dirty kitchen sponges
Dense vegetables such as raw carrots and green beans
Finally, if you’re thinking about turning your microwave on with nothing inside to see what happens, don’t. This can destroy your microwave, potentially blowing it to pieces.
When the microwave is turned on, the microwaves need to go somewhere. If they don’t have anywhere to go, they bounce off each other before being absorbed back into the microwave. In a worst-case scenario, this will cause the microwave to explode.
